(L) Hossein Amir Abdollahian met SyrianAmbassador to Tehran Adnan Mahmoud (R)

Tehran (IP) - A senior foreign policy advisor to the Iranian Parliament Speaker Hossein Amir Abdollahian reaffirmed Tehran’s full support for Syria’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty, in a meeting with Syrian Ambassador to Tehran, Adnan Mahmoud on Saturday in Tehran.

Iran Press/Iran news: Amir Abdollahian also expressed hopes for the settlement of the crisis in Idlib.

The Syrian army tries to liberate Idlib province where more than 20,000 "Jabhat al-Nusra" terrorists are present in northern Syria's Idlib province, which created concern over the civilian's life.

Terrorists are still attacking civilians in the besieged regions and prevent them from reaching humanitarian corridors in the Idlib countryside set up by the Syrian Army, to use the civilians as 'human shields'.

In a meeting with Syrian Ambassador to Tehran Adnan Mahmoud, Hossein Amir Abdollahian said," Tehran welcomes any measure that leads to the preservation of Syria’s territorial integrity, strengthening of its national sovereignty, and restoration of stability and calms to the region,” the Iranian official added.

He also expressed hope for the resolution of the crisis in Syria’s Idlib, which he blamed on the presence of terrorists, saying the northwestern province should come under the control of the central government.

For his part, the Syrian envoy Adnan Mahmoud praised Iran for turning crisis into opportunities and for emerging victorious in political and international fields.

Amir Abdollahian and Mahmoud also discussed the latest regional and international developments, exchanged views on issues of mutual interest in the political and economic arenas, and stressed the need for parliamentary cooperation between Tehran and Damascus.
