Leader calls on more relief provisions to flood-stricken people

Tehran (IP) - Following the problems caused by heavy rains in Sistan and Baluchistan and some parts of the southeastern country, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, in a message, called on the governmental agencies to provide more relief to cherished people of the province.

Iran Press/Iran news: The message of Leader of the Islamic Revolution states that in addition to the commendable relief services provided so far, it is essential that government agencies and public sectors to help further to prevent more damage inflicting the cherished people of that province.

Heavy rains since Thursday have affected almost all southern provinces of the country, especially Sistan and Baluchestan, causing damages to homes, farms, agricultural facilities, roads, and infrastructure.

At least 1,248 people trapped in the floods were rescued in some 40 towns and villages in Sistan and Baluchestan.

The unprecedented flash floods have hit 350 villages in recent days, damaging thousands of residential buildings.
