Iran Press/ commentary: The assassination of Lutentant General Qasem Soleimani who was martyred by Pentagon under the direct order of US President Donald Trump, is the prime example of the war crimes committed by the US government and the height of its hostility against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The US government has committed numerous crimes against the Islamic Republic of Iran over the past 40 years, including economic pressure and sanctions, military operations and coups, indirect warfare, mobilization of terrorist groups, Iran phobia, proxy war and assassination of various scientists and officials.
The Iranian nation will never forget the July 3, 1988, attack on an American Airbus passenger plane that killed 290 innocent Iranian citizens. The terrorist assassination of Commander Qasem Soleimani has once again shown that there is a close and unbreakable link between the US government and terrorist groups. Qasem Soleimani has a great track record in the fight against terrorism, especially ISIS (Daesh) Terrorist group.
Martyr Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani has played a leading role in the fight against terrorist groups not only in Iraq but also in Syria, as according to The Guardian, a few days ago he was listed as one of the top 10 figures in the world and it wrote that "the United States and Israel have been working to assassinate him several times."
Last year, the American magazine Foreign Policy listed Martyr Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani as one of the top 5 defense-security thinkers. Undoubtedly the emphasis is placed on the position of the martyred Quds Force commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps due to the special role he played in the fight against terrorism, especially in Iraq and Syria.
Since 2011, with the Western countries conspiracy and the financial backing of countries such as Saudi Arabia, which led to the formation of Takfiri terrorist groups, including ISIS and Jabhat al-Nusra in the region, Qasem Soleimani launched a new mission to counter these threats in both Iraq and Syria.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, in his condolences message on the martyrdom of Martyr Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani stated that "all those who are in favor of resistance see his revenge."
Martyr Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani formed the 'Hashed al-Shabi' in Iraq and the Syrian 'National defense force' in Syria, and within six years, the terrorists had almost been obliterated in the two countries.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif also described "Soleimani as the most effective force in the fight against ISIS, al-Nusra, al-Qaeda and others" who targeted by "American international terrorism".
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force commander Qasem Soleimani was assassinated today on January 3, 2020, as he went to Iraq to prevent ISIS's revival and was fighting ISIS survivors with the help of Hashd al Shabi (the Popular Mobilization Forces), but along with Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the deputy chief of Hashd al-Shabi, was targeted by terrorist US forces.
ISIS survivors sought to revive this terrorist group in the past two months, benefiting from the unsafe and unstable environment of Iraq, which was triggered by the US, Saudi and Zionist regime intervention, and now, with the order of assassination of Qasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, the US president has taken a big step to help this terrorist group in Iraq.
In addition, Martyr Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani has played an important role in enhancing position of the axis of resistance in the West Asian region. And, in the words of the leader of the Islamic Revolution, he was the "international face of the resistance."
The axis of resistance today is an undeniable actor in the West Asian region and Americans, Saudis and Zionists do not tolerate it because it opposes any foreign intervention and compromise in the region.
On this basis, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, in his condolences message on the martyrdom of Martyr Lieutenant General Qasem Soleimani stated that "all those who are in favor of resistance see his revenge."
