Dozens of human rights activists took part in a rally and demonstration in Washington DC, condemning a military coup d'etat in Bolivia, which led to the ouster of Bolivian President Evo Morales.

Iran Press/America: A group of peace activists called 'Code Pink' organized a rally in front of the headquarters of the Union of Latin American Countries in Washington DC.

As US objections and violence against the Bolivian presidential election intensified, leading to the victory of current President Evo Morales, he was forced to resign under pressure from the military on Monday to restore security, order, and peace in the country.

In a speech on Sunday night, Morales strongly criticized the opposition for creating unrest in Bolivia.

Bolivian Vice-President Alvaro Garcia Linera also said that he was resigning from his position. The two leaders said that they would be handing their resignation letters to the country's National Assembly.

Since both President and Vice-President resigned, the presidency must now be accepted by the president of the Senate, a position held by Adriana Salvatierra of the MAS party.
