Iranian Minister of Information and Communications Technology slammed the US over its sanctions on the country's space agency, saying that Washington’s “sanctions on Space” can’t stop Tehran’s development in this field.

Iran Press/Iran news: In a tweet on early Wednesday, Iranian Information and Communications Technology Minister Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi dismissed the latest sanctions. He posted a picture of stars in space, writing: "I can't even locate the US in this picture, let alone sanctions on Space!"

"The universe & #BrightFuture belong to everyone, not to a few! Stop imitating #Thanos, Donald Trump!" Jahromi wrote, referring to the purple-skinned villain of the latest 'Avenger' films.

The Trump administration imposed sanctions Tuesday on Iran's space agency for the first time, under the pretext of developing ballistic missiles in the program to launch satellites into orbit.

The sanctions announced by the US’ State and Treasury departments targeting the agency and two of its affiliates following an explosion Thursday of a rocket at Iran's Imam Khomeini Space Center in what an Iranian official said was a technical malfunction during a test.

Iran's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Minister reacted to the rumor of failure in launching the 'Nahid 1' satellite, saying that the satellite is safe and settled in the laboratory.
