Iranian Minister of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) called on placing the telecommunication satellites for peaceful purposes on the agenda.

Iran Press/Asia: Meeting with Secretary-General of Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) Li Xinjun, in the Chinese port city of Dalian, Iran's ICT minister Mohammad Javad Azari Jahromi called on APSCO to engage in joint projects such as constructing a joint telecommunications satellite. He said APSCO should give high priority to such peaceful and humanitarian projects.

According to an Iran Press report, Azari Jahromi pointed to the need for exchange of technical information on space science and aeronautics among the member countries of APSCO.  Referring to the important role of the space industry in meeting Iran's needs in areas such as combating natural disasters, increasing productivity in agriculture and better management of water resources, and the environment, Azari Jahromi called for strengthening of practical cooperation between Iran and APSCO to meet these needs.

Pointing to the important role of knowledge-based companies and newly-established hi-tech companies in space, the Iranian minister suggested to the secretary-general of APSCO for more effort to create better communications between hi-tech startups in member states. Azari Jahromi, who has travelled to China to attend the World Economic Forum, called 'Davos Summer ' announced Iran’s readiness to review the hosting of the first startup event with the support of APSCO and urged APSCO to pursue the matter seriously.

The 2019 Davos Summer was held for three days with the attendance of two thousand researchers, top businessmen, economists, academics, senior politicians and other officials from various countries, including the Islamic Republic of Iran.
