Ardabil (IP) -The head of the University Jihad of Ardebil province in the northwest of Iran says the province has excellent potential to become a center for infertility treatment and thus a health tourism hub.

Iran Press/ Iran news: The head of the University Jihad of Ardabil province, Mehran Uchi has said the infertility treatment centre of Ardabil University Jihad has good facilities and potential for becoming a leading infertility treatment centre in the region.

In an exclusive interview with Iran Press in Ardabil on Tuesday, Mehran Uchi said: "Having well-equipped health centres and specialist doctors, especially in the field of fertility health, the province is set to become the destination of patients from neighbouring countries and regions."

"More than 350 foreign nationals from the Republic of Azerbaijan, Turkey and Iraq have been accepted in the infertility treatment centre of Ardabil University Jihad in recent years," Uchi added.

 Emphasising that Ardabil province is considered the gateway to the Caucasus region, Uchi reiterated: "More than 1,000 people go through the Bilshavar border crossing every year, of that number 50 percent of entries is to Iran and 30 to 40 percent of that enter Ardabil for health reasons."
