Iran Press/ Iran News: On April 9, which marks the anniversary of Iran's nuclear technology, nine achievements in the industry, lasers, control and imaging systems, radiopharmaceuticals, and plasma, were unveiled.
"Behrouz Kamalvandi," the spokesman of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, said: "European countries have reached the fact that there is no escape from building nuclear power plants."
Kamalvandi added: "Establishment of iodine 131 radiopharmaceutical capsule production line that is used in the treatment of various cancers, use of nuclear radiation for sterilization, seed modification and seed resistance against dehydration, use of gamma radiation for processing bee venom for using Medical development as well as the development of heavy water-related products are among the advances made in this area.
Kamalvandi also mentioned the construction of a 360-megawatt Iranian nuclear power plant in Darkhovin, which is planned to produce 10,000 megawatts of nuclear power to fulfill its legal obligation and is on the agenda the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran.
Mohammad Eslami, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, also said that the construction of the 360-megawatt Darkhovin power plant is on the agenda to use it along with research reactors.
Darkhovin nuclear power plant, the second-largest nuclear facility in the country, is a heavy water reactor and will be completed in the city of Darkhovin in Khuzestan province.
April 9 was named National Nuclear Technology Day in Iran 16 years ago when the country's scientists managed to achieve the complete nuclear fuel cycle.
