Tehran (IP) - The Governor of the Central Bank of Iran, in a meeting with the Ministers of Economy and Trade, as well as Communications and Technology of Syria, stressed that monetary and banking cooperation between Iran and Syria will be pursued seriously and will increase in the short term.

Iran PressIran News: In a meeting with Mohammad Samer Al-Khalil, Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade, and Ayad al-Khatib, Minister of Communications and Technology of Syria, Mohammad Reza Farzin, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran, said: Monetary and banking cooperation, commercial and joint investments are seriously on Tehran and Damascus agenda.

Referring to the development of electronic banking and the card network of Iran (Shetab Banking System) and the readiness of the Central Bank of Iran for joint cooperation in this field with Syria, the Governor of CBI added: "One of the important strategies of Iran in the development of commercial cooperation with neighboring countries is the replacement of national currencies in Banking monetary relations and increasing the volume of commercial and economic exchanges.

Mohammad Samer Al-Khalil, the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade of Syria, also stressed the increase of business relations and exchanges between Damascus and Tehran and said: Removing the dollar out of trade relations and using national currencies in the context of monetary and banking cooperation between Syria and Iran will definitely increase the volume and it will lead to increase export and import of two countries.

Samer Al-Khalil stated that the process of agreements between Syria and Iran is on a very good track in various fields and stated: "The important goal is to reach a conclusion in all issues related to economic issues between the two countries by following up on the approvals which will be in line with the interests of both countries."

Ayad al-Khatib, the Minister of Communications and Technology of Syria, in this meeting, referring to Iran's progress in the field of electronic banking, called for the formation of a joint committee between the two countries in order to increase technological cooperation in the field of communication and banking cooperation.
