Tehran (IP) – Iran and other members of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) are going to observe possible grounds of prospects for cooperation in a one-day conference in Tehran, on 30 May 2022.

Iran PressIran News: The Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) came into existence as a unique and promising model of multilateral political and economic initiative with the signing of the Istanbul Summit Declaration and the Bosphorus Statement by the Heads of State and Government of the countries in the region, on 25 June 1992.

Inaugurating the conference, the BSEC Secretary-General Lazar Comansecu called Iran the most active member of BSEC and said Iran’s cooperation in trade, transportation, agriculture, health care, environment and tourism had been significant.

“We are here to explore further grounds of cooperation,” he added.

Referring to the Ukraine war, Comansecu also expressed worrisome about the innocent people who are being killed and hoped that a solution could stop the war.

He also referred to BSEC’s achievements over the past three decades and said that BSEC as the oldest institute in the Black Sea area, has enhanced economic cooperation among states and also focuses on regional peace and security.

Lazar Comansecu noted that cooperation among BSEC’s members could be extended to other areas such as science and technology.

The United Nations Resident Coordinator in the Islamic Republic of Iran, Stefan Priesner, as another speaker of the conference, referred to economic diplomacy as a crucial step in neutral understanding and said that cooperation in every region is necessary and included in the UN’s chart.

“We are here to agree on new cooperation network in the next five years to deepen our relationship,” he added.
