Atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki should not be repeated: Japanese PM

The Japanese prime minister stressed on the eve of the 75th anniversary of the US atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, that these "tragedies" should not be repeated.

Iran Press/Asia: Shinz? Abe expressed his condolences to the families of the victims of the US atomic attacks on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and stressed his country's commitment to the three principles of non-production, storage and import of nuclear weapons.

In this regard, the Prime Minister of Japan is scheduled to attend a ceremony on Thursday 

On August 6, 1945, a US Army B-29 bomber dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima by the order of the US President at that time Harry Truman.

Three days later, the United States dropped its second atomic bomb on the people of Nagasaki, Japan.

About 220,000 people died as a result of the two atomic bombings.

The atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, in Japan, are the only military uses of nuclear weapons in the world. The United States has never apologized for using these bombs.
