Astana format remains the most effective solution to the crisis in Syria, according to Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin.

Iran PressEurope: Sergey Vershinin confirmed that the Astana-format meeting on the Syrian crisis will continue at a later date, although the exact date and venue are yet to be determined.

"The Astana format has been and continues to be the most effective in terms of achieving a long-term settlement in Syria. We have already accomplished a lot and will continue to work extensively within this framework. The scope of tasks is expanding," Vershinin stated on Thursday, as quoted by TASS News Agency.

The 20th meeting in the Astana format took place on June 20-21 this year.
