Tehran (IP) - The ninth Arbaeen International Award was held on Jan. 27, 2024.

Iran PressIran News: The awards ceremony was attended by several Iranian officials, including Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Mohammad-Mehdi Esmaili, the head of Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) Mohammad Mehdi Imanipour, and foreign guests.

The organizers have established the awards to promote artistic productions at the Arbaeen gathering, which is held by Shia Muslims in Iraq every year. Hundreds of thousands of Iranians and Shia Muslims from other countries embark on a journey to the Iraqi city of Karbala to observe the day of Arbaeen at the holy shrines of Imam Hussein (AS), the third Imam of the Shia, and his brother, Hazrat Abbas (AS).

Iran's Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister said that the Arbaeen ritual is the way to convey the Islamic world message to all. Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili stated: "The arrogant powers try to censor the Arbaeen ritual's significance and message, but we should not let it happen by culture and art language." 219
