Iran Press/ Iran news: Younesi highlighted the effective measures taken in the province's ports under the current administration, including earmarking a 20-hectare parcel of land for the construction operation of a wharf, hotel, restaurant, and onshore and offshore structures. These efforts align with the general objectives of a sea-based economy as emphasized by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution.
In addition to exports, Younesi also noted a 55 percent growth in imports via Bandar Anzali, with 1.2 million tons of goods such as corn, raw edible oil, wood, and ironware being imported from March 21 to December 22, 2023. The number of commercial vessels entering Bandar Anzali Port Complex also increased by 43 percent compared to last year's corresponding period.
Furthermore, loading and unloading operations at Bandar Anzali saw a 32 percent growth, with over 1.478 tons of various commodities being handled at the port. Younesi also mentioned an expert-level meeting with Russia to address barriers for optimal use of the port's capacities in the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC).
Describing President Ebrahim Raisi's administration's efforts as "significant and eye-catching," Younesi expressed confidence that more effective steps will be taken for further development of trade activities in Bandar Anzali.
In conclusion, he highlighted a remarkable 55 percent growth in non-oil commodity exports from Bandar Anzali during the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year (January to December 2023).
