The foreign ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkmenistan met and discussed on the sidelines of the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Caspian littoral states in Moscow.

Iran PressEurope: Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hossein Amir-Abdollihan, and Raşit Meredow, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, met and talked with each other this afternoon on the sidelines of the meeting of the foreign ministers of the five Caspian Sea littoral states.

Iran's top diplomat expressed hope for further expansion of Iran-Turkmenistan relations in all fields.

He added: "We still believe that all decisions about the issues of this sea should be made by the consensus and agreement of the five Caspian Sea littoral countries; thus, boosting the cooperation among the neighbors is of utmost importance."

Amir-Abdollahian went on to say: "Although six rounds of meetings and negotiations have been held so far in the form of a working group of high-ranking officials on Caspian issues, we must admit that the process of negotiations to complete the document on Caspian sea is progressing slowly and not satisfactory."

Earlier, Iranian top diplomat Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov signed the agreement on the sidelines of a meeting of the foreign ministers of the five Caspian countries in Moscow on Tuesday.
