Iran Press/ America: Two governors fired back at President Donald Trump on Monday, accusing the president of “inflammatory” and “dangerous” rhetoric about protests over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody.
According to CNBC, Another Democratic governor, Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, said the call with Trump was “deeply disturbing.”
“I’ve been extraordinarily concerned about the rhetoric that’s been used by you,” Pritzker told Trump, according to a transcript of their exchange tweeted by New York Times reporter Katie Rogers.
This is while Trump spent nearly an hour in the bunker, which was designed for use in emergencies like terrorist attacks, according to a Republican close to the White House who was not authorized to publicly discuss private matters and spoke on condition of anonymity.
This account was confirmed by an administration official who stated it on the condition of anonymity.
The abrupt decision by the agents underscored the rattled mood inside the White House, where the chants from protesters in Lafayette Park could be heard all weekend and Secret Service agents and law enforcement officers struggled to contain the crowds.
Trump has told advisers he worries about his safety, while both privately and publicly praising the work of the Secret Service.
Friday’s protests were triggered by the death of George Floyd, a black man who died after he was pinned at the neck by a white Minneapolis police officer.
In recent days security at the White House has been reinforced by the National Guard and additional personnel from the Secret Service and the U.S. Park Police.
Since the beginning of the anti-racism protests in the United States, 1700 people have been arrested in 22 cities.
Tens of thousands of people took to the streets in various cities Sunday night for the fifth night to protest the killing of George Floyd by police and the deaths of other blacks in US police custody to protest violence.
