Iran Press/ America: Thursday marked the third night of violent protests following the death of George Floyd, who died in a confrontation with officers outside a grocery store.
According to AP, earlier Thursday, Governer Tim Walz had activated the National Guard at the Minneapolis mayor’s request, and as protests and looting spread into neighboring St. Paul.
In footage recorded by a bystander, Floyd can be seen pleading that he can’t breathe as a police officer kneels on his neck. As the minutes passed, Floyd slowly stops talking and moving.
Late Thursday, President Donald Trump blasted the 'total lack of leadership' in Minneapolis.
"Just spoke to Governor Tim Walz and told him that the Military is with him all the way. Any difficulty and we will assume control but, when the looting starts, the shooting starts," he said on Twitter.
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey fired 4 cops following the death in custody of George Floyd on Monday because the suspect was pressed shirtless onto a Minneapolis road, one officer’s knee on his neck.
US police killed nearly 200 people in the first four months of 2020, according to reports.
