Iran Press/Iran news: Iran’s ambassador to France, Bahram Qasemi reacted to the United States Donald Trump's threat against Iran's historical and cultural centers saying that the US officials should know that any effort aimed at destroying Iran's cultural heritage and properties is going to be considered as a war crime.
Bahram Qasemi in his tweet released on Monday night referred to Trump's recent tweets to hit and target Iran's cultural centers said that Mr. Trump is not probably aware of the international norms and he does not know that such measures are considered as the overt violation of the following law:
"UNESCO's Convention for the Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Armed Conflict as the first international treaty that focuses exclusively on the protection of cultural property in armed conflict, ratified by the Hague as well as additional protocol I of The Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949 ."
Iran's top diplomat went on to say that US officials would better improve their knowledge and information on internationally recognized laws and conventions instead of threatening and doing efforts aimed at the destruction of the world's states' cultural heritage and works of civilization.
