Iran Press/Europe: In an interview with the Swiss newspaper Neue Zurich Zeitung, the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said, "Iran is now at the center of our activities, but there are other problems as well. Non-proliferation is a constant challenge in this regard."
"Four weeks after I took office, we asked for access to two facilities that Iran did not allow, and we were in a difficult situation," Grossi said of the issue of inspecting two centers in Iran.
The Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, in response to the question that the IAEA inspection of two centers in Iran for more than a year is a sign of the IAEA's weakness, replied that Iran is not an occupied country like Iraq after 2003, where foreign inspectors with UN support are able to move freely. Iran is an independent country."
Grossi then stated that after consultations, Iran had allowed the two centers to be inspected, and this was "a shining moment in diplomacy."
Grossi in response to a question about how worried you are that Saudi Arabia will pursue an atomic bomb, given that the Saudi Crown Prince has explicitly stated that his country is willing to use nuclear technology as much as Iran has, said, "These are political slogans; We write them down, but we work based on a country's real nuclear capabilities. These centers are now very small in Saudi Arabia. Accordingly, our surveillance measures in this country are still limited. But the Saudis know that as soon as they fill the research reactor with nuclear fuel, we will inspect its facilities more."
