Iran Press/ Iran news: After the world experienced the Deltacoronavirus strain and then with maximum observance of health protocols and extensive vaccination, this strain was controlled, but with the arrival of a new corona strain called "Omicron", the world, including Iran, once again witnessed an upward trend in disease, especially among children.

Meanwhile, following the exponential increase of children with omicron strain, the admission capacity of patients with this virus in Abuzar Children's Educational-Medical Center in Ahvaz, the capital of Khuzestan province, southwest of Iran, has been completed.
With the initial detection of coronavirus about two years ago, the virus changed its mutation. It increased its pandemic with different names in the first months, killing many adults and young people, and children were almost safe. Still, today the Omicron strain is common among children, and all children from infants to adolescents are involved with COVID-19 at various levels.
Massoud Younesian, a university professor and epidemiologist in Iran, believes that the Omicron strain is many times greater than the delta strain.
Symptoms of COVID-19 in children are more common with symptoms of fever, sore throat, upper respiratory tract symptoms, cough, and sneezing, and for some children with gastrointestinal symptoms.
Reza Shervin Badv, head of the Pediatric Medical Center in Iran, said that children were more affected by the disease than the previous corona peaks. Most COVID-19 patients referred to medical centers were children under the age of 12, and families should vaccinate children.
