Iran Press/Iran news: On Saturday morning, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei received a large number of students on the occasion of 'Student Day' and the 'National Day of the Fight against Global Arrogance' in Iran, which will fall on the 13th day of the Iranian calendar month of Aban, (3 November 2024).
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, assured today that Iran and its allies in the resistance front will respond decisively to any provocations by the U.S. and Israel. Speaking to thousands of Iranian students on the eve of Iran’s annual observance of National Day Against Global Arrogance, which commemorates the anniversary of the 1979 U.S. Embassy takeover, Ayatollah Khamenei stressed that Iran's resistance against international oppression is not only Islamic but also rational and humane, grounded in adherence to international laws.
Iran’s Unwavering Commitment to Resistance
In his speech, Ayatollah Khamenei underscored Iran's continued opposition to U.S. dominance, describing it as an “Islamic, national, rational, and human” battle against American imperialism. “This stance aligns with international law,” he said, adding that Iran’s path of resistance will proceed logically and without any hesitation.
“Every necessary action to prepare Iran for this confrontation—militarily, defensively, and politically—is being undertaken by Iranian officials,” the Supreme Leader stated, assuring the audience of Iran’s readiness to defend its sovereignty. He further declared that Iran and its officials will remain vigilant in countering the injustices of “today’s oppressive world order,” and that any attempt by the U.S. or Israel to act against Iran will meet a forceful response.
Defending the Legacy of the 1979 Embassy Takeover
Ayatollah Khamenei also defended the historical occupation of the U.S. Embassy in 1979, commonly referred to in Iran as the “Den of Espionage.” He described the embassy as a hub of anti-Iranian operations, including attempts to undermine the Islamic Revolution and plot against the Iranian leadership. "The embassy was not merely a diplomatic post," he said. "It was a planning center for provoking anti-revolutionary elements, orchestrating the coup, and endangering the life of Imam Khomeini."
The Supreme Leader urged young Iranians to study documents seized from the embassy, now publicly available, which he said would clarify the embassy’s actual role in fomenting unrest against Iran. He also highlighted the long history of U.S. interference, including the 1953 CIA-orchestrated coup against the democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadegh, which reestablished the Shah’s authoritarian rule.
A Historical Context for Resistance
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution emphasized that Iran’s anti-imperialist stance began not in 1979 but decades earlier, and it was deeply rooted in the country’s struggle for independence and dignity. He urged young Iranians to examine this historical context as a core component of their national identity and to recognize the ongoing struggle against U.S. and Israeli influence.
Turning to the U.S.-Israel alliance, Ayatollah Khamenei criticized the former Pahlavi regime’s support for Israel, particularly in aiding its military ambitions in the region. He condemned the Israeli government’s treatment of Palestinians and criticized the few Arab states that have chosen to align themselves with Israel despite its actions in Gaza and Lebanon, stating that these actions betray the broader cause of justice and human rights.
Reflecting on Iran’s successful 46-year history of resistance against U.S. pressure, Ayatollah Khamenei refuted claims that Iran cannot stand against the might of the United States. He argued that Iran’s defiance has, over the decades, weakened the U.S.’s influence and encouraged other oppressed nations to resist imperialist powers. He cited recent support from international student organizations critical of U.S. policies as evidence of the success of Iran’s approach.
Condemning Current Violence in Gaza
Regarding the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Ayatollah Khamenei decried the U.S.-backed brutality of the Israeli government. He urged young people in Iran to form connections with their peers across Islamic and regional countries, spreading awareness about Iran’s resistance and encouraging a united front against global injustice. “By fostering unity and spreading awareness, we can forge a global movement against oppression,” he concluded.
A Call to Action for Youth
In his closing remarks, Ayatollah Khamenei encouraged the youth to stay connected to their faith and their national identity. He praised prominent figures of the resistance, including Hezbollah’s Hassan Nasrallah, Hamas’s Ismail Haniyeh, and Qassem Soleimani, as role models for young Iranians. He also urged them to remain steadfast in their principles, drawing strength from their faith as they continue their pursuit of a just and independent future.
The event also included remarks from Iranian students and international representatives of the resistance movement, who expressed solidarity with Iran’s stance against global oppression led by the United States.
