Iranian Foreign Minister has emphasized that he wants to discuss America's unlawful moves in his meeting with senior Syrian officials.

Iran Press/Middle EastMohammad Javad Zarif said upon arrival in the Syrian capital while speaking to reporters on Tuesday that his trip is aimed at discussing America's unlawful and hostile moves against both Tehran and Damascus with senior Syrian officials.

He said that his one-day official visit, which comes at the invitation of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, aims at discussing the US hostile policies in the region, which went into overdrive after the successive failures of United States and the Israeli regime in the region and the wider world, Mehr News Agency reported.

"Trump’s unlawful recognition of the occupied Golan Heights as sovereign Israeli territory, his recognition of Jerusalem al-Quds as the Israeli capital, and the US’ unprecedented, illegal and extremely stupid move to designate the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) as a terrorist organization are the main topics of discussion with senior Syrian officials," Zarif noted.

He added: "Iran and Syria need to continue talks on bilateral cooperation, as well as talks on reaching a political solution for the Syrian settlement."

The Iranian top diplomat is scheduled to hold talks with President Assad, as well as Syrian prime minister, foreign minister and a number of other officials.

Zarif will leave Syria for Turkey to hold separate talks with the country’s senior officials. His visit to Turkey comes just a week before the Astana-format Syrian settlement talks, which will be held in the Kazakh capital on 25-26 April, and will be attended by Iranian, Turkish and Russian officials.
