Iran Press/ Middle East: The tomato did not hit Netanyahu, who was surrounded by a large number of police officers and security guards as he toured the Hatikva Market with his wife ahead of general elections next week.
Netanyahu’s challenger Benny Gantz head of the Blue and White party condemned the tomato throwing incident, but Netanyahu's Likud party accuses him of spreading the video of the incident in a bid to tarnish Netanyahu’s visit to the market, Haaretz reported.
The Hatikva Market, is located in south Tel Aviv’s hardscrabble Hatikva neighborhood.
"The 99.9 percent support for Prime Minister Netanyahu at Hatikva Market really bothered Benny Gantz so he decided to put out the video clip to the media of the 0.1% and afterwards rushed to condemn” the tomato throwing incident, the party was quoted as saying by the Zionist media. “What hypocrisy,” it added.
The incident came as Israel enters the home stretch of a heated election campaign for Knesset (parliamentary) elections on April 9.

Netanyahu, is about to be indicted on corruption charges, and is in a tight race for what he hopes will be his fourth consecutive term in office. He is facing a strong challenge from Benny Gantz, a retired army chief, in the upcoming election.
In addition to the corruption charges, another scandal is brewing for Netanyahu because an Israeli watchdog group has found a network of hundreds of social media accounts, many of them fake, used to smear opponents of Prime Minister Netanyahu in next week’s election and to amplify the messages of his Likud party.
