Nasser Bourita and Binyamin Netanyahu

Netanyahu held secret meeting with Moroccan Foreign Minister on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly last September.

Iran Press/Africa: Zionist Regime Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a secret meeting with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meeting in New York last September, Israeli media revealed.

Netanyahu stressed in the meeting that Israel wants to normalize relations with Morocco. He also said that he is interested in visiting Morocco publicly like the visit he made in November to Oman.

Netanyahu and Bourita also discussed about Iran, an Israeli official told Israeli Channel 13 News’ Barak Ravid. Morocco has cut ties with Iran on May 2018, claiming Iran interferes in Moroccan internal affairs. Iran reject the accusation as baseless.

Israel has not had diplomatic relations with Morocco since the Second Intifada in 2000 after full diplomatic relations between 1995 and 2000 when Oslo Accords were signed between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization.

Netanyahu's office said in response to Ravid’s report, "We do not comment on contacts with countries Israel has no formal relations with."

Last month, reports in Moroccan media indicated that talks were under way about a visit by Netanyahu to Morocco.

The reports said that the date for the visit will be about a week before election day on April 9.

Reports of a possible visit by Netanyahu to Morocco came days after the Israeli prime minister visited Chad, where he and President Idriss Deby announced the renewal of mutual ties.

US President Donald Trump tries to normalize Arab countries relation with Israel. One of the latest effort was last week anti Iranian Warsaw meeting organized by the US in the Polish capital on February 13-14 which has outraged observers in the Arab world who believe their leaders attended the conference merely as “extras” in a pre-planned scenario for normalization of Israeli-Arab ties.

In an editorial piece on Thursday, Abdel Bari Atwan, the editor-in-chief of Rai al-Youm news and opinion website, said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was the “groom” at the Warsaw conference, and the foreign ministers of Arab countries were “extras” summoned by the US to help normalize Arab ties with the Israeli regime. 101/205/213
