Iran news: According to an Iran Press report, the top commander of the IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps) said we have put behind us military and security threats.
Major General Jafari added: "If the Iraqi people had not fought the terrorists alongside Iran's military advisers in Iraq, then we would have had real problems in this region. The Iraqi people's sacrifices and efforts ensured victory over the terrorists."
Turning to Iran, Major General Jafari said: "The glory, authority and dignity of the Islamic Republic is indebted to the blood of martyrs, and we must all be grateful that the resilient Iranian nation has always produced martyrs who selflessly sacrifice their lives for Islam and the Islamic Republic."
In further remarks, Jafari said: "The Leader of the Islamic revolution has always emphasized that commemoration of martyrs is absolutely necessary and one of our principle concerns today is to expand and develop the culture and dialogue of resistance, resilience, and martyrdom."
He added: "The Iranian nation today is standing tall and proud, thanks to the efforts and sacrifices of the martyrs of the revolution. As the Leader of the Islamic revolution has pointed out, if we hear the message of the martyrs, and understand their message, then we shall not have any inclinations towards either the East or the West. We must all bear this in mind, it is a very important advice which guides us politically and socially."
In further comments, Major General Jafari said: "Some people ask how long the resistance will continue? The answer is, as Imam Khomeini (may his soul rest in peace) used to say, so long as America acts in an arrogant and imperial manner, we shall continue with our resistance." 211/103
