Iran Press/Iran news: Iran’s defense power has magnified during sanctions era, Brigadier General Hossein Salami, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the IRGC told the Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) in Tehran.
“Our defense and military sector was sanctioned from the outset of the [1979] Islamic Revolution,” General Salami said, adding that the sanctions still continue.
He further said that Iran’s military and defensive power is completely “indigenous. ”The strengthening of power is on top of the agenda, the commander stressed.
US President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew Washington from the nuclear agreement in May and reintroduced sanctions on Iran.
The US withdrawal was met with worldwide criticism, particularly by other signatories to the international agreement. Britain, France, Russia, China, Germany and the European Union have stressed their compliance with the deal and their support for its proper implementation.
The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on November denounced US sanctions saying the United States has always been on the losing side of the 40-year-long war it has waged against the Islamic Republic of Iran. 105/203
