According an Iran Press report, Addressing a huge crowd of Friday prayers worshippers and the faithful in Tehran, Hojjatoleslam Seyyed Mohammad-Hassan Aboutorabi Fard referred to US sanctions against Iran, and warned the United States about Iran's resilience and its ability to counter all sorts of economic conspiracies and plots by the enemies.
Elsewhere in his remarks, the Friday prayers leader referred to liberated prisoners of war as 'reserves of the Islamic revolution'. Hojjatoleslam Aboutorabi Fard added: "Without a doubrt, eight years of sacred defence is the most important event to occur in Iranian history for several millenia, with the exception of the emergence of Islam and its acceptance by the Iranian people (about 1400 years ago).
Turning to eight years of sacred defence, Tehran's interim Friday prayers leader said: "Many beautiful pages of Iranian history were created during those eight years, and one of the most beautiful, was the release of Iranian prisoners of war from Ba'athist jails -- an event whose anniversary on 17 August we are celebrating today."
He added: "Courageous men who fought with all their might until their last bullet. They had opted for martyrdom, but the Almighty had decided that incarceration by the enemy, and eventual release was their destiny, so that they could spread the message of the martyrs of the war (Revolution) among the general population; a message which will live forever."
Commenting further Hojjatoleslam Aboutorabi Fard said eight years of sacred defence against the Ba'athist regime of Iraq propelled Iran to the heights of achievement, in politics, economics, science, technology, and defence and aerospace industries.
He added: "Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and Palestine have all been inspired by Iran's eight years of sacred defence. They fight the arrogant and colonialist powers having obtained their inspiration from Iran".

Commemorating the 'martyrs of Mena' in Saudi Arabia, the tragic incident which happened during the Hajj pilgrimage two years ago, Hojjatoleslam Aboutorabi Fard said the martyrs were the victims of the Saudi regime's mismanagement, incompetence, ineptitude, and possibly machinations; the Saudi regime whose hands are stained with the innocent blood of thousands of men, women and children in Yemen, as well as the blood of other innocent Muslims.
