The Managing director of Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization introduced a part of the activities and capabilities of ports and maritime sector section of Iran in a video presentation, which was highly complimented by the audience.
Rastad elaborated that: regarding the structure of the International Maritime Organization, after the General Assembly, the Council has the highest position and importance.
He added, "One of the opportunities provided for the first time was that, during this session, Iran's capabilities in the field of maritime activities, ports, the powerful Islamic Republic's fleet, as well as the duties and responsibilities of the Ports and Maritime Organization of Iran comprehensively demonstrated for state members of IMO".
Deputy Minister of Road and Urban Development of Iran concluded that the Islamic Republic of Iran has expressed objection to the actions that have led to restrictions on the activities of the Iran’s shipping fleet, and added, "we hope to see support from the Secretariat and the members of the International Maritime Organization regarding this issue".

The Council is the executive organ of IMO and is responsible, under the Assembly, for supervising the work of the Organization. The Council is made up of 40 Member States, elected by the Assembly for two-year terms.
The International Maritime Organization Council in its 121st session on Thursday strongly called on the US and other members to avoid taking any measures that would jeopardize security and safety of international sailing and freedom of shipping.
Iran's Ambassador to London Hamid Baeedinejad said the IMO had raised the request after considering Iran's protest to the US' anti-Iran sanctions of marine transportation.
Earlier, Baeedinejad in a letter to the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization called for a special review of the impact of the sanctions against Iran.
In a message broadcast on Telegram, he wrote to American representative for Iranian affairs, Brian Hook and called on the world's countries yesterday to prevent Iranian ships from docking in their ports.
Hook said Washington will not allow Iranian ships to be insured, which will cause the countries not to get their losses from insurance companies if Iran's ships cause the sea accidents.
However, according to Baeedinejad, Hook insisted on introducing the United States as a friend of the Iranian nation.
The ambassador added, "Undoubtedly, Iran cannot prevent its fleet from operating to export oil as well as exports and imports of commercial and industrial commodities due to the US illegal request and certainly the United States will be responsible for every incident in the sea."
He added, "This is why the Iranian embassy in London sent a letter to the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization condemning this US measure and it a violation of the international naval treaties, especially on the safety of the sea, and called for reviewing the matter at the summit of council of this organization.”
