Tabriz (IP)- Shahriar Museum in the city of Tabriz is host to poetry and literature enthusiasts on a day which is dedicated to commemorating the great poet of Iran, Mohammad-Hossein Shahriar.

Iran Press/Iran news: The memorial day of Shahriar (Mohammad-Hossein Behjat Tabrizi, the great Iranian poet is 18 September (27 Shahrivar). It is designated in the Iranian calendar as the 'National Day of Persian Poetry and Literature'.

Museum of Shahriar -- the famous poet once actually lived in what is now a museum building -- on the memorial day of the well-known poet, is host to many enthusiasts of Persian poetry and literature in Tabriz, northwestern Iran.

Shahriar's Tomb that is located near 400 other famous poets in 'Maghbarat-o Shoara' special cemetery in Tabriz, is one of the most important tourist sites in the city.

Shahriar was born in 1906 in Tabriz and died on 18 September 1988, in a Tehran hospital, and his body was transferred to Tabriz and was laid to rest in 'Maghbarat-o Shoara' (House of Poets).

His poems are mainly influenced by Hafez. 'The Blessing Bird of Good Omen', which is about Imam Ali (peace be upon him), is just one of his many other noteworthy poems. 101/211/216
