Iran Press/Iran news: In his post on Instagram on Thursday, Deputy Foreign Minister of Iran, Abbas Araghchi, described Iranian Foregn Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif as the commander of the Iranian foreign policy who has proved that the Americans are incapable of confronting him in the political and diplomatic field.
The deputy foreign minister further added that no sanctions and no enemies' conspiracies can prevent Iranian diplomats from pursuing national interests, Iran Press reported.
Soon after the US Treasury announced the sanctions on him, Zarif tweeted that the US sanctioned him because he was seen as a threat to Washington's agenda. He added that he had no properties outside Iran to be seized.
Zarif also said "Everyone who knows me knows that I, or my family, do not own any property outside Iran. I personally do not even have a bank account outside Iran. Iran is my entire life and my sole commitment. So I have no personal problem with possible sanctions."
The United States on Wednesday imposed sanctions on Zarif, targeting the country’s top spox and potentially hurting chances of diplomatic talks amid rising tensions between the two countries. 203/208
