Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for political affairs met with French President senior diplomatic aide Emmanuel Bonne

Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for political affairs met with Emmanuel Bonne, French president’s senior diplomatic aide and talked about reaching a balanced ceasefire amid the economic war the US has waged.

Iran Press/Iran news: "We talked about the current economic war, and how a balanced ceasefire and a reasonable end game look like," Seyyed Abbas Araghchi wrote in a tweet.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif met and held talks with Bonne in Tehran on Wednesday, discussing the latest developments in bilateral relations and international issues, IRNA reported.

Emmanuel Bonne who has been in Tehran has met the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and the Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif respectivley in a bid to salvage the Joint Compehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and de-escalate tensions, which broke out in the aftermath of US’s unilateral withdrawal last year from the deal and re-imposition of harsh economic sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

Earlier, Bonne also held talks with Supreme National Security Council Secretary General Ali Shamkhani in Tehran.

Iran initially said it would stay in the deal if the other signatories — France, Britain, Germany, Russia and China — manage to fill in for the United States and offset Washington’s anti-Iran sanctions.

A year later, after the European sides failed to fulfil their end of the bargain, Iran suspended the implementation of some of its commitments under the deal to spur the Europeans into meeting Iran’s legal demands under the deal. 203/215
