Iran Press/Iran news: “Iran has kept the door to diplomacy and negotiations fully open, and we hope that the parties to JCPOA take full advantage of this opportunity until we reach the optimum point, which is the full implementation of JCPOA by all signatories to the agreement,” President Hassan Rouhani said in a meeting with Emmanuel Bonne, a top diplomatic advisor to the French President, on Wednesday evening.
According to president Rouhani's official website, he added: “The main goal of the Islamic Republic of Iran is that the commitments stipulated under the JCPOA be fully implemented by its parties, and if they live up to their commitments, Iran will take new steps in completing its commitments.”
In the same meeting, Emmanuel Bonne, a senior advisor to the President of France, passed on a written message from French President Emmanuel Macron to President Rouhani.
Emmanuel Bonne is in Tehran to hold talks with Iranian officials in a bid to salvage the JCPOA and de-escalate tensions, which broke out in the aftermath of US’s unilateral withdrawal last year from the accord and re-imposition of harsh economic sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
Iran initially said it would stay in the deal if the other signatories — France, Britain, Germany, Russia and China — manage to fill in for the United States and offset Washington’s anti-Iran sanctions.
A year later, after the European sides failed to fulfil their end of the bargain, Iran suspended the implementation of some of its commitments under the deal to spur the Europeans into meeting Iran’s legal demands under the deal. 101/211
