Iran Press/Iran news: According to an Iran Press report, in his Twitter account on Wednesday 16 January 2019, Zarif wrote: "Iranians forced the US client to leave 40 years ago today. 3 years ago today, JCPOA entered into force, ending years of securitization of Iran. In spite of US machinations vis-a-vis Iran for the past 40 years-and its withdrawal from JCPOA-Iranians have shattered the myth of US omnipotence."
Zarif made the tweet on the 40th anniversary of the hated dictator Shah leaving Iran for good on January 1979, and the third anniversary of JCPOA entering into force.
The Iran nuclear deal, formally known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action (JCPOA) was signed on 14 July 2015 between Iran and the 5+1 Group (United States, Britain, France, China, Russia and Germany). The agreement came into force on 16 January 2016.
Earlier on November 7, Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov commented on new round of the US sanctions against Iran and said: "As for the US measures against Iran, they are absolutely illegitimate. They are taken as a flagrant violation of the UN Security Council's decision."

Right from the very beginning, the US did not carry out its obligations under the JCPOA, and was dragging its feet, and following Donald Trump's election to presidency, the US withdrew altogether from the JCPOA in 8 May 2018, leaving the other signatories scrambling to salvage the nuclear deal.
The Trump administration has done everything it can to undermine and destroy the hard-gained multinational nuclear agreement which took many years to negotiate, and is generally regarded as a triumph of multilateralism and diplomacy, and has been approved by the United Nations as well. 211 / 103
