Tehran (IP) - The Iranian capital Tehran unveiled the world's biggest string portrait in the city's Vali Asr subway station.

Iran PressIran News: Containing 8 kilometers of thread and 313 pins, the masterpiece was unveiled on Thursday, with the theme of the 'Promised Saviour.'

The number 313 is a sacred one in Shia Muslims' traditions. The Promised Savior Imam Mahdi (AS), who is called with different names in different religions, will reappear whenever 313 pious and brave fellows are found to assist him as his commanders.

It took four days to complete the string artwork.

The artwork set a new record in its type, but due to the sanctions imposed on Iran, the Guinness World Records institute representative did not come to Iran to register the record.

Currently, the name of an Iraqi is registered in the Guinness book as the creator of the greatest string art portrait.
