Iran Press/America: In a televised address, Interior Minister Nestor Reverol said security forces wounded several members of the group and "brought down" 8 others who landed early on Sunday near La Guaira, on the coast about 20 miles (32 km) from the capital Caracas, Reuters reported.
Other assailants fled after they were confronted by the Venezuelan Armed Forces.
The President of the Constituent Assembly, Diosdado Cabello, slammed on Sunday the latest attempt by armed terrorists to infiltrate Venezuela's border by means of a naval invasion from Colombia.
Cabello said that the incident is still under investigation by the Venezuelan authorities, but he vowed, on behalf of the Constituent Assembly, to confront these terrorists that seek to harm the South American nation.
This a coup financed from the United States, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the government of Ivan Duque, president of Colombia," he said, adding, "We are going to confront with all the instruments that guarantee our constitution for the defense of the homeland.
"We'll use force where it is necessary to preserve internal order. Those who attack our country will assume the consequences," He added.
Venezuela has been suffering from a severe political crisis since the beginning of last year, when Juan Guaido, the head of the opposition-controlled National Assembly, proclaimed himself an interim president of Venezuela in a bid to oust constitutionally-elected Maduro from power.
Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has accused Guaido of being a US puppet working with Washington to orchestrate a coup so that the United States can control Venezuela’s natural resources.
Several countries, led by the US, recognized Guaido, while Russia, China, Turkey, Iran, and a number of other states firmly backed Maduro.
