Iran Press/ Asia: "Currently, Iran's nuclear situation is at a critical stage," Zhao Lijian said in a news conference on Tuesday, referring to a meeting of the JCPOA Joint Commission in Vienna. "China supports the JCPOA Joint Commission meeting to lift sanctions by and resume the implementation of the JCPOA by Iran."
"Beijing also supports the Commission's engagement with the United States in an appropriate manner," he added.
The spokesman expressed hope that the parties would reach an agreement on the revival of the JCPOA as soon as possible, adding that the US unilateral withdrawal from the JCPOA was the main reason for the current crisis.
"The United States must return to the JCPOA unconditionally and lift all illegal sanctions against Iran," the Chinese diplomat noted.
The Chinese diplomat added: "We hope that all parties will be able to distinguish between right and wrong and ask the United States to take specific measures to lift sanctions and co-op with Iran and work to revive the JCPOA as soon as possible."
"China has always played a constructive role in the Iranian nuclear deal and will continue its efforts to revive the JCPOA," the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said. "But at the same time, Beijing will defend its legitimate rights and interests," he highlighted.
