Iran PressEurope: The United States has provided extensive military assistance to Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian operation in Ukraine.

Over the past year, Republicans in the US Congress have pressured the Biden administration to step up military support for Ukraine. The Biden administration's green light to send Stinger and Javelin anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine in late 2021 is said to have been the result of this pressure.

The US delegation, made up of Democratic and Republican senators, visited a refugee center in Poland near the Ukrainian border on Saturday.

The group of 10 senators planned to meet with military leaders and NGO officials to learn more about how the U.S. can better support the region and its allies in the defensive alliance. It's the second congressional delegation to visit Europe in the last week.

Republican Senator Steve Daines said the US lawmakers also met with US troops stationed in Poland and were briefed on the latest situation in Ukraine.

According to the Republican senator, the US legislature met with German lawmakers in Berlin last night to discuss Russia's military operation in Ukraine.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in response to a request for help by the heads of the Donbas republics. He stressed that Moscow had no plans of occupying Ukraine but aimed to demilitarize and denazify the country. 219
