Iran Press/ Iran news: The US Department of Commerce has extended sanctions against Iran's Mahan Air and other companies in various countries that have previously worked with the airline.
The sanctions include a ban on selling any US aerospace equipment or spare parts to these companies.
Companies in the UK, Jordan, Iraq, the UAE, Syria, Turkey, and France were among the companies against which the sanctions were extended.
The US Department of Commerce's Office of Industry and Security has enacted laws to control the export and re-export of dual-tech items, technologies, and software. Washington imposes sanctions or fines on some companies for violating these laws.
For the first time, on March 17, 2008, Daryl Jackson, then-Assistant Secretary of Commerce, issued an order to cancel Mahan Airlines' export concessions. This decree has since been extended for 180-day periods.
In line with its pressure policy on Iran, the US government has placed Mahan Air on the sanctions list for what Washington claims is the airlines' link to the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC).
The United States has placed Mahan Airlines on the sanctions list and had put pressure on European countries to boycott it.
The extension of US sanctions against Mahan Air comes as talks between Iran and the P4 + 1 group on lifting sanctions against Iran are set to resume in Vienna, Austria, in the next few days.
