Iran Press/ Iran news: Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli, in a phone call to his Turkish counterpart Suleyman Soylu on Tuesday, said Lieutenant-General Soleimani was a commander of fighting terrorism, whose achievements are acknowledged by the regional nations and states.
"The US has been meddling in the region for many years and interfering in various areas, which is neither acceptable to the people of the region nor in accordance with international law," Rahmani Fazli stressed.
Stressing the importance of peace and stability in the region, he asserted that the US presence in West Asia has always been the source of instability and insecurity in the region.
Turkey's Interior Minister, for his part, said that his country has always stood against foreign interference in the region and strongly condemned the US' assassination of Lieutenant-General Qasem Soleimani.
The Commander of Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Lieutenant-General Qasem Soleimani and 8 of his companions including the second-in-command of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis were assassinated by the US drones in Baghdad, Iraq's capital in the early hours of Friday morning 3 January 2020.
The US authorities announced that the air raid was conducted under Trump's direct order.
Qasem Soleimani arrived in Iraq on Friday at the invitation of the country's government.
