Kabul (IP) – An Afghan Sunni cleric said unity, fraternity and brotherhood are fundamental principles in Islam.

Iran PressAsia: In an interview with Iran Press News Agency reporter about the message behind naming Unity Week, Qari Ahmed Fawad Karimi stated that Islam always invites the Ummah and different Islamic groups to unity and brotherhood and emphasizes calling the faithful brother your true brother.

He invited different Islamic groups to form a united nation and said that color, race and ethnicity are not the basis of the religion of Islam and that brotherhood and unity transcend races.

"There is no difference between Uzbeks and Hazaras in Islam, and all of us as Muslims should live in the shadow of religion and achieve peace in Afghanistan," he said.

The Afghan Sunni cleric and religious teacher noted that Afghanistan has been burning in the fire of oppression, war and poverty for years, but now the message of religion is that we should all live in an atmosphere of peace and brotherhood, and with the cooperation of the people and the government, the progress of Afghanistan would be realized.

On the initiative of Imam Khomeini, the Founder of Iran's Islamic Revolution, 12-17 of Rabi al-Awwal has been named the Week of Unity.

According to Sunni tradition, the 12th of Rabi al-Awwal is the auspicious birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the beloved prophet of Islam.
