UNICEF Executive Director in her visit to Khan Younis in southern Gaza Strip, called for the cessation of Israeli crimes against the innocent Palestinians.

Iran PressWest Asia: The head of the UN children's agency, UNICEF, Catherine Russell said on Wednesday that she had witnessed "devastating" scenes in her visit to war-ravaged Gaza and urged Israel to stop this horror.“Today I visited the Gaza Strip to meet with children, their families and UNICEF staff.

What I saw and heard was devastating. They have endured repeated bombardment, loss and displacement,” UNICEF Executive Director Catherine Russell said in a statement.

“Inside the strip, there is nowhere safe for Gaza’s 1 million children to turn,” she added.

The UN official said that more than 4,600 children have been killed and nearly 9,000 others have been injured in the Gaza Strip.

“Many children are missing and believed buried under the rubble of collapsed buildings and homes, the tragic result of the use of explosive weapons in populated areas,” Russell said.

The health ministry in Gaza says Israel's ensuing aerial bombardment and ground offensive have killed 11,320 people, also mostly civilians. 219
