Iran Press/ Iran news: In response to Iran Press, regarding the incident that took place on the border area of Sistan with Nimroz province of Afghanistan, Saeed Khatibzadeh said: "A 900-kilometer border with Afghanistan and Iran has been erected to prevent smugglers from entering, part of which is inside Iran."
In his weekly press conference on Monday morning, Khatibzadeh added: "The Taliban border guards were unfamiliar with the zero point of the border and opened fire based on a misunderstanding."
The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Iran's border guards were also forced to respond immediately and then Tehran-Kabul tried to bring the issue to the point for a more accurate understanding.
Regarding the preventive measures against such incidents, he said: "Now the two sides are familiar with the border points and direct communication via phone have been set up between them so that they can communicate if necessary."
Regarding the future of Afghanistan and the position of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Foreign Ministry spokesman stressed: "The future of Afghanistan must be formed based on the will of the Afghan people and an inclusive government with the presence of all ethnicities. This is the voice heard at the Tehran summit as well.”
