Iran Press/ America: In the 11th report on the implementation of UNSCR 2231 by UN Secretary-General António Guterres, members of the UN Security Council reiterated the need for all parties to adhere to UN Security Council Resolution 2231 while urging the US to lift sanctions against Iran.
Rosemary DiCarlo, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs, said at the meeting that the JCPOA talks in Vienna are an opportunity for all parties to re-adhere to the nuclear deal.
EU Special Representative to the United Nations Olof Skoog also stressed the need for all parties to return to the nuclear deal and fully implement it, without mentioning the European Union's failure to abide by its commitment to the JCPOA.
Russia's representative to the United Nations also stated at the meeting that the claims of the US representative regarding the violation of the provisions of UN Security Council Resolution 2231 by Iran are unacceptable.
The Russian diplomat said that the United States is violating the resolution, adding that Iran's steps to reduce its obligations under the JCPOA are a legitimate response to the illegal and unilateral withdrawal of the United States from JCPOA.
China's representative to the United Nations also said that the United States had withdrawn from the JCPOA in a unilateral action and should take the first step to return to the nuclear deal without any preconditions.
The Chinese diplomat said that Beijing generally rejects all US sanctions, adding that these sanctions, including those against Iran, should be lifted immediately.
The German representative to the United Nations also said the JCPOA has no logical alternative and that the resumption of the nuclear deal is entirely plausible.
During the last meeting of the JCPOA Joint Commission in Vienna, the delegations expressed their satisfaction with the progress made in reviving Iran's nuclear deal, reaffirming their determination and seriousness to pursue the dialogue process to find solutions to a number of unresolved issues. 219
