The United Nations Security Council, on Wednesday, issued a statement strongly condemning the recent terrorist attack on the holy shrine of Shahcheragh.

Iran PressAmerica: On the evening of late Sunday, following the attack by elements of a takfiri terrorist outfit of Daesh(ISIS) in the sacred shrine of Shah Cheragh (AS), seven people were injured, and two were martyred.

The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the heinous and cowardly terrorist attack on innocent people and pilgrims at the Shah-e-Cheragh shrine in Shiraz, Iran, on 13 August 2023. The attack was claimed by ISIS/Da’esh and resulted in the loss of lives of 2 Iranians and the injury of 8 innocent people.

The members of the Security Council expressed their deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims and to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and they wished a speedy and full recovery to those who were injured.

The members of the Security Council reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms and manifestations constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security.

The members of the Security Council underlined the need to hold perpetrators, organizers, financiers, and sponsors of these reprehensible acts of terrorism accountable and bring them to justice. They urged all States, in accordance with their obligations under international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, to cooperate actively with the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as all other relevant authorities in this regard.

Earlier, Stephan Dujarric told reporters in New York that the UN condemns the attack at the religious site, expressing sympathy with the people and government of Iran. 219
