Two years before the official general election in Britain, news sources are announcing the possibility of holding early elections in this country.

Iran PressEurope: A General Election in 2023 is looking more likely, according to reports. The British newspaper, Times says that David Canzini, the PM's new deputy chief of staff, has told advisers they had to begin preparing for the possibility of an election in the autumn of next year.

While May 2024 remains the most likely date, Canzini is reportedly to have said the “clock is ticking” as he set out the government's five top priorities: Brexit, the cost-of-living crisis, the NHS, crime and migrant boats. “It was a strange list of priorities,” one government aide was reported to have said. “We’re on the brink of a generational cost-of-living crisis and yet Brexit was top of the list.”

Boris Johnson today told the Conservative Party spring conference in Blackpool that his Government needs to do everything in its power to help people through the cost of living pressures as energy prices continue to spike.

A poll by the British Observer found that Boris Johnson's popularity has reached the lowest in his office time.

By law, the term of office of the British Parliament is five years, and from this perspective, the next election will be held in May 2024. 219
