Iran Press/ Asia: Tsunamis of up to 5m high are believed to be reaching Noto in Ishikawa Prefecture, according to the weather agency quoted by public broadcaster NHK.
A tsunami around 1 metre high struck parts of the coast along the Sea of Japan with a larger wave expected.
Residents were asked to evacuate from the area immediately.
