Iran Press/America: US President Donald Trump has asked the Secretary to the Treasury to increase sanctions against Iran, in the latest escalation of Tehran-Washington tensions.
"I have just instructed the Secretary of the Treasury to substantially increase Sanctions on the country of Iran!” Trump said in a tweet, Iran Press reported.
There are no further details yet on what exactly will be changing.
This order came days from Yemeni Ansarullah drone and missile attack on Saudi Aramco facility in the Abqaiq and Khurais oil refineries with 10 drones, the biggest Yemeni Army operation within Saudi territory to date.
Although The Yemeni army take responsibility for the retaliatory attack and declared that strikes were in response to the ongoing Saudi airstrikes and war crimes in Yemen, the US allegedly accuse Iran for having a role in the attack.
Iran has consistently denied involvement in the attacks and on Wednesday, sent a cable to Washington formally denying any role in the attack.
Iran's Foreign Ministry has submitted a letter of protest to the Swiss embassy in Tehran, the protector of Washington’s interests, as the US rushed to accuse Iran of being behind the assault, without providing any evidence.
In a statement on Wednesday, Foreign Ministry said the letter contained Tehran’s protest against the US accusation, denying Iran's involvement in drone attacks on Saudi Arabia's oil sites. 101/205
