Berlin (IP) - Thousands of German farmers and ranchers protested against the policies of the German government.

Iran PressEurope: According to Iran Press, the German federal government has removed the diesel fuel tax exemption for farmers due to its budget contraction policy, which has caused widespread protests by German farmers.

Thousands of farmers came to the streets of the capital with their tractors to express their protest to the government officials.

Joachim Rukwied, President of the German Farmers' Association said: "With the government's policy of removing the tax exemption for diesel fuel, a billion euros of financial pressure is imposed on farmers every year."

Rukwied, told the media: "If the government does not withdraw the plan to remove the tax exemption for farmers' diesel fuel, our protests will become hot from January 8th."

The Minister of Agriculture of the German government also criticized the government's plan in the gathering of protesting farmers and said that he understands the farmers' concerns.

Cem Özdemir asked the coalition government to reconsider its plans in this regard.

The government of Ulf Schultz has suffered budget chaos with a ruling of the Constitutional Court, as the government had included the remaining budgets from the Corona era in the structure of this year's budget, but the court preferred it against the constitution, and therefore the government faced a crisis.

The coalition cabinet of Olaf Scholz has considered various austerity measures to overcome this crisis.

Among them is the removal of tax exemption for diesel fuel for agricultural vehicles.

Also, the government has saved 12 billion in environmental costs, and carbon dioxide producers who had to pay a tax of 30 euros per ton will increase to 45 euros.

The government has also removed the gas price cap, according to which consumers who consume 20,000 kilowatts of gas must pay 150 euros more than last year.

The next saving is related to the fine that the government had to pay to the European Union every year for the consumption of plastic.

Also, the German government has removed the subsidies paid to families for replacing the heating system and using solar energy.

The collection of these savings by the government in the budget will increase the final price of the production of goods, which will ultimately affect the consumers.
