Islamabad (IP)- Every year in the last week of November the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women is observed all over the world, mostly on November 25th. On this occasion, to pay a tribute and to show solidarity with the helpless and oppressed women of Gaza, a workshop and seminar was organized with the assistance of the Cultural Centre of Islamic Republic of Iran, Rawalpindi

Iran PressAsia: A large number of women, including scholars, teachers, and students, participated in the workshop held at Jamia Sadiq, Islamabad. Addressing the audience, the speakers said that while voices are being raised on violence against women in the whole world, the oppressed women of Palestine are being forgotten. On this occasion, a special message from the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, was also read out, in which he said that the Western countries and their puppet countries, which have remained silent until now, are complicit in the crime of the Zionist regime and Gaza. Despite this, the silence on the genocide of Muslims is nothing but betrayal.

Talking to Iran Press, the Director General of Khana Farhang Iran Rawalpindi, Farmarz Rehmanzad said, "On the occasion of International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, announcements and statements are issued to protect women and children in armed conflict. An international declaration on the prevention of violence has been issued, but all these laws are being violated in Gaza. So this is our moral and religious duty to speak for the helpless Palestinians at all levels until the war stops permanently. "

Women from different age groups and different departments attended the event to pay tribute to the mothers or martyrs in Palestine. A woman expressed her thoughts to Iran Press saying, "In recent days the women of Palestine got the attention of the whole world by sacrificing their sons and brothers, the world has questioned the so-called superpowers of the world why this brutality against Palestinians is not ending".

The young students were specially invited to participate in the workshop, lectures were arranged for youth to motivate them to speak out for a moral cause. Talking to Iran Press, a young participant said, "Women in a society play an important role in how they train their future generations but the Zionist regime is destroying the future of Palestinian women and so-called organizations including Amnesty International are just silent and that's questionable". 219
