In a significant move to enhance trade relations, Tehran and Moscow have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening their collaboration in the textile and apparel sectors.

Iran PressIran news: Speaking on Tuesday, Heshamatollah Asgari, Deputy Coordinator of Economic Affairs for Tehran Province, announced the agreement. He highlighted the involvement of Tehran's strategic apparel value chain—comprising unions, industry associations, fabric and clothing designers, and the Iran Leather Association—with Russia's Union of Textile and Clothing Entrepreneurs.

The MoU outlines key areas of cooperation, including market research, capacity assessment, joint production, trade delegation exchanges, knowledge sharing, and export facilitation. "This agreement creates opportunities for Iranian textile and apparel industries to expand their presence in Russian markets," Asgari said. He also noted that the Russian side has committed to actively supporting the entry of Iranian manufacturers into their market.

Russian Commitment to Expanding Ties

During the online signing ceremony, Andrey Razbrodin, Chairman of the Union of Textile and Clothing Entrepreneurs of Russia and head of the Textile and Clothing Center at Russia's State Duma, expressed his satisfaction with the partnership. Razbrodin emphasized Russia's experience in collaborative efforts with nations such as China, Pakistan, and Turkey and welcomed Iran as a valuable partner in the global textile industry.

The agreement marks a pivotal step in boosting industrial and economic ties between the two nations, leveraging each other's strengths to create a competitive and mutually beneficial trade network in the textile and apparel markets.
